World Youth Day
You will need to apply for a Tourist visa (Subclass 676) in order to attend World Youth Day. As a registered pilgrim you will be entitled to apply for your visa free of Australian Government charges by following the process detailed below.
Please note that if you are a citizen of a European Union country you are eligible to submit an online visa application at any time free of government charges. To apply online please visit www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/visitors.htm.
To make a paper application follow these steps:

Register online to attend World Youth Day (See: www.wyd2008.org)

Print a copy of the application form (number 48R – see below) complete all questions and sign it. Please note that this form is available in several languages from the Depart of Immigration and Citizenship website (http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/index.htm)

If you are under 18: Provide your parents’ or legal guardian’s consent for you to travel to Australia to attend World Youth Day. The consent should be issued by the local Court or Public Notary’s Office, or alternatively given at the Embassy’s client counter in person. Evidence of relationship to your parent(s) or guardian need to be presented (i.e. Birth Certificate, custody documents)

The following supporting documentation will need to be provided with your application:

2 passport sized photographs (no more than 6 months old)

Your valid and signed passport

Evidence that you will be able to support yourself while in Australia. This could include any fundraising you have been involved in, bank statements, or evidence of financial support from a sponsoring organisation or a family member/relative. A bank statement should be accompanied by the account owner’s declaration that he/she is providing financial support for your visit to Australia

Evidence of current and ongoing educational enrolment and/or employment in your current country of residence and evidence of the approved leave from studies/work

Evidence of residence status if you are not a national of the country you applying from.

Certificate of Police Clearance issued within the last three months for applicants aged 16 and over

A completed and signed ‘DECLARATION AND STATEMENT REGARDING CHARACTER’ for Former Yugoslav nationals born in 1985 and older, your military booklet and military discharge papers (see link below)

Completed Visa Questionnaire (see link below)

Print a copy of the World Youth Day coversheet, which you obtained when registering on the World Youth Day website, and complete it.
