TOURIST VISA - DOCUMENT CHECKLIST
PLEASE NOTE: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU PROVIDE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS LISTED BELOW WHEN YOU LODGE YOUR TOURIST VISA APPLICATION. IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS, YOUR APPLICATION MAY BE REFUSED.
IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT THAT ALL DOCUMENTS ARE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Evidence of payment of the VISA APPLICATION CHARGE.

FORM 48R- For a standard short or long stay tourist visa application - please ensure all questions are answered and the form is signed. The form can be downloaded here.

VISA QUESTIONNAIRE – please ensure all questions are answered and the questionnaire is signed. The form can be downloaded here.

Four passport sized PHOTOGRAPHS – less than one year old.

A valid signed PASSPORT, valid for your planned period of stay in Australia.

A signed and completed 'DECLARATION AND STATEMENT REGARDING CHARACTER' (the form can be downloaded here) – (for Serbia nationals and Former Yugoslav nationals born between 1930-1985 inclusive), AND your military book, military discharge papers and original documents relating to any injury and/or illness sustained during military service, and/or any injury or illness which has prevented you undertaking military service.

If you are VISITING A RELATIVE OR FRIEND IN AUSTRALIA - evidence of Australian Citizenship or permanent residence for that person and a statement about whether he/she is prepared to guarantee your accommodation, financial assistance and your departure from Australia before your authorised stay expires.

If your relative or friend will be financially supporting your travel to and stay in Australia, you must provide evidence of your RELATIVE OR FRIEND’S INCOME. This could include a recent Taxation Assessment Notice, a recent bank statement or a recent letter from their employer stating their income level.

Evidence of your EMPLOYMENT STATUS AND INCOME. You must provide a letter from your employer confirming your length of employment, salary and position. This letter should also state how much paid leave you have been granted and whether your employer guarantees that you will have a job on your return. If you are self employed please provide evidence that your company is registered with the appropriate authorities, and that it is currently operational.

Evidence of your PROPERTY AND ASSETS. This should include ownership documents for property.

If you are meeting the costs of your travel and stay in Australia, EVIDENCE OF FUNDS in the form of a recent bank statement showing transactions for a 6 month period preceding this application . Cash held is not acceptable evidence of funds.

If you are a student, a CERTIFICATE FROM YOUR SCHOOL OR UNIVERSITY showing that you are enrolled and whether you have been approved to take leave from your studies, as well as your Student Book.

If you are a child aged under 18 years of age, or if a child under 18 is included in your application, you must provide:
child’s BIRTH CERTIFICATE, and
if the child is travelling without both parents, the non-travelling parent(s) must provide WRITTEN CONSENT FOR THE CHILD TO TRAVEL to Australia. This signed statement must be witnessed by a court, public notary or by an officer of the Australian Embassy or Consulate. -
If you are 70 years of age or over you will be required to undergo a medical examination to determine your fitness to travel. You will be advised of how and where this examination is to be done once your application has been assessed.

IIf you are 70 years of age or over you must provide evidence that you have HEALTH CARE COVER for the entire period of your stay in Australia

Please note: If your inviter, migration agent, family member in Australia or in your own country, or any third person is seeking information about your application, we must have written consent from you to liaise with that person.
IMPORTANT: If you are 11 years of age or over and are applying to stay in Australia for more than 3 months, you will be required to undergo a chest x-ray. You will be advised of how and where the chest x-ray is to be done once your application has been assessed.
